Vissla's top-tier 3/2 in a zip-free entry. Japanese limestone I-Foam neoprene — what Vissla calls "Ridiculous Rubber" — with liquid-taped cuff seals and water-based lamination, at $319.95 rather than flagship money.

The High Seas II sits at the top of Vissla's wetsuit range, above the 7 Seas. The whole suit is built from I-Foam — Japanese limestone-based neoprene that Vissla brands "Ridiculous Rubber" — rather than mixing premium panels with cheaper rubber elsewhere, which is where most mid-price suits compromise.

The 3/2 comes in both zip-free and chest-zip entries at the same $319.95. The rest of the line runs 4/3 zip free and chest zip at $339.95, a 4/3 hooded chest zip at $369.95, and a 5/4 hooded chest zip at $389.95.

Pros & cons
  • Flagship-level flex at mid-tier money
  • Zip-free entry removes the coldest, stiffest panel of a wetsuit
  • Liquid-taped cuff seals cut flushing at wrists and ankles
  • Water-based lamination and limestone neoprene — a lower-impact build
  • Zip-free suits are harder to get into than a chest zip
  • 3/2 tops out around 13 °C — colder water needs the 4/3
  • Fewer independent lab-style reviews than O'Neill or Rip Curl equivalents
  • Thermal lining is warm but not the fast-drying type found in top-end suits

How it surfs

Cleanline Surf's review calls the High Seas II "Vissla's highest-performing wetsuit to date" and concludes that "the suit is as flexible as they come: lessening paddle fatigue and extending your surf sessions." Their highlighted features are the warm thermal lining, the flexible Ridiculous Rubber, liquid tape cuff seals and the water-based lamination.

Flex is the honest headline here. A zip-free 3/2 in full limestone neoprene at $319.95 undercuts the equivalent zip-free suits from the big three by a meaningful margin, and flexibility is the attribute most surfers actually notice session to session.

The trade-off is entry. Zip-free suits take practice to get on and off, and the neck opening is the thing to check when sizing. If that bothers you, the chest zip version of the same suit costs the same.

Verdict

The best flex-per-dollar 3/2 on the market right now. Buy it if you want flagship stretch without flagship pricing, and don't mind pulling on a zip-free suit.

Frequently asked questions

What water temperature is the High Seas II 3/2 for?+

Roughly 56–65 °F (13–18 °C). Below that, step up to the 4/3 or the 4/3 hooded version of the same suit.

Zip free or chest zip?+

Both cost $319.95. Zip free is the most flexible and warmest across the back; chest zip is easier to get into. Pick on entry preference, not performance.

What is "Ridiculous Rubber"?+

Vissla's name for I-Foam, a Japanese limestone-based neoprene. Cleanline describe it as the strongest, lightest and stretchiest neoprene Vissla offers.

High Seas II vs 7 Seas?+

The High Seas II is the higher-performing suit — full limestone neoprene and liquid-taped seals. The 7 Seas is the value option and the one to buy if budget leads.

Is the High Seas II eco-friendly?+

Partly. It uses limestone-based neoprene and a water-based lamination rather than solvent-based glue, but it is not a neoprene-free suit like Patagonia's Yulex range.
