How it surfs
This is a size decision more than a model decision. If your local conditions are marginal — soft bumps, light wind, long flat gaps between swell lines — the 1401 is the wing that makes those sessions possible. If you already get going comfortably on the 1201, the extra span mostly costs you top-end and turning radius.
Volume & sizing chart
Use the chart below as a starting point. Add half a litre if you are less experienced, subtract half a litre for a looser feel.
| Size | Volume | Rider weight | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| ART PRO 1201 | Smaller span | All-round prone, wing and downwind | Advanced |
| ART PRO 1401 | Largest listed ART PRO | Light wind, small bumps, heavier riders | Intermediate to advanced |
How it compares

Verdict
A specialist light-wind and small-bump wing from AXIS at a verified $988 — compelling if your conditions are marginal, unnecessary if the 1201 already gets you flying.
