Solarez's Epoxy Ding Repair is the epoxy sibling of the polyester tube most surf shops sell. Cleanline describes it as "a mixture of clear, high strength, fiber reinforced epoxy resin and an amazing solar activated catalyst", and Solarez lists the headline properties as high strength, EPS safe, UV cure in one minute, clear and weatherable, and a non-flammable travel-safe formula.

That last point matters more than it sounds. Because the formula is zero-VOC and non-flammable, it is the repair product most surfers can realistically pack for a trip, and it is why Solarez markets itself as "surfer's #1 choice worldwide for decades". Use the epoxy version on epoxy/EPS boards; a polyester resin will dissolve EPS foam.

How it surfs

Method matters more than product here. Dry the ding fully — trapped water will cloud the cure and pop the patch later — sand back the broken glass, keep the board in shade while you fill and shape, then move it into direct sun for one to two minutes. Sand flush once it is hard.

Can I use Solarez epoxy resin on a PU board?+

Yes. Epoxy bonds to both PU/polyester and EPS/epoxy boards. The reverse is not true — polyester resin will dissolve EPS foam, so on an epoxy board you must use the epoxy version.

How long does it take to cure?+

Solarez states a UV cure of about one minute in direct sunlight. Keep the tube and the filled ding shaded until you are happy with the shape, then move the board into the sun.

Can I repair a board in overcast weather?+

It still cures, just slower, because it needs UV rather than heat. On a dull day give it several minutes outdoors, or use a UV lamp.
