How it surfs
No retailer or publication in our checks publishes a numeric score for the Xtra Cado, so the figure here is an estimate drawn from the published design detail, construction and price against the other Machado shapes we cover.
Length choice does most of the work. The 6'6" and 6'8" sit close to a large hybrid and still turn tightly, while the 7'0" and above lean into the glide-first side of the range. Rob's own stock board is the 6'8".
If you already own a Machadocado, the Xtra Cado is the small-day companion rather than a replacement. If you own neither, pick by how much paddle power you want: more length buys waves, less length buys turns. Both sit in Firewire's Rob Machado range alongside the Seaside and Groove.
