Three-time World Longboard Champion Harley Ingleby's Sunshine Coast brand — the reference performance longboard label, home of the HI4, HIHP and the Mid 6 mid-length.
Harley Ingleby is a three-time World Longboard Champion (2009, 2018, 2019) and one of the most decorated modern longboarders. His shaping label — HI Surfboards — has grown from a small Sunshine Coast operation into the reference performance-longboard brand distributed by Firewire under license worldwide.
The HI Series is HI's flagship performance longboard family — the HI4 is the all-round competition template, the HIHP is the higher-performance thruster/2+1 version, and the HI5 is the small-wave option. Every WSL Longboard Championship Tour rider currently in the top 10 either rides an HI Series board or a shape directly inspired by it.
The HI Mid 6 has become one of the best-selling mid-lengths of the past three years, and HI's collaboration with Firewire (Helium construction) has made his shapes globally available with a consistent build standard.
Surfex is an aggregator — we do not test boards ourselves. These are the retailer, editorial and manufacturer pages we cross-check when writing about Harley Ingleby (HI). Numeric aggregate ratings are only shown once we've scraped a real customer-review widget on one of our product review pages.
The HI4 is the all-round competition template — the board Harley won multiple world titles on. The HIHP is a higher-performance thruster/2+1 version — narrower, thinner, faster through the pocket, but harder to noseride.
The outlines and rockers are identical. The Firewire versions are built in Helium construction (EPS core, wood-composite deck), which is lighter and more durable than PU/PE but rides slightly stiffer than a traditional PU longboard.
It's a mid-length — 6'6" to 7'2" typical. Faster and looser than a full longboard, but with more glide than a shortboard. Best-selling mid-length in HI's range.
