The Pyzalien 2 is Pyzel's wide-nosed, user-friendly performance shortboard — described by the brand as great in a wide variety of waves with one of the most user-friendly, yet high-performance rockers they've made. Works from 2ft to 8ft across points, reefs, and beach breaks.

The Pyzalien 2 is Pyzel's evolution of the original Pyzalien. Pyzel describes the original as having been a lot different than the shortboards of the time — a wide point forward outline with a wider nose and tail. The Pyzalien 2 refines that concept with one of the most user-friendly, yet high-performance rockers Pyzel has made.

The outline is clean and simple, with no hips or wings — just a fuller nose and wider tail which keeps the board very fast and forgiving. The Pyzalien 2 works great in a huge variety of waves, from points to reefs to beach break, and is rated by Pyzel for 2ft to 8ft surf.

One of the biggest changes from the original is a more domed deck with refined rails. Pyzel recommends ordering the Pyzalien 2 slightly wider and thicker than the original to account for the reduced volume in the domed deck. The board uses a Futures 5-fin box, allowing thruster, quad, or 5-fin setups.

How it surfs

Because Surfex does not personally test boards, the notes here summarise what Pyzel describes about the shape rather than a first-person ride report. Pyzel positions the Pyzalien 2 as a user-friendly daily driver that performs across a wide range of wave types and sizes.

The Pyzel store lists the Pyzalien 2 at $845–$950 USD depending on size and fin configuration. Many sizes are available as Custom Order only; check the Pyzel store for current in-stock inventory.
