How it surfs
Area is the number that decides whether this wing suits you. At 1550 cm² it lifts early, which is exactly what you want in mushy waist-high surf or marginal wing conditions, but the same area drags once the wave gets fast.
Armstrong specifically calls the V2 1550 a wicked choice for SUP and wing foil because of its range, power and glide for its size. That framing matters — it is not pitched as a prone-only wing, and heavier riders using it prone in small surf are its natural second audience.
The A+ system is the practical catch. It is stiffer and more durable than the older Armstrong mount, but it commits you to Armstrong masts and fuselages. Factor the full ecosystem cost, not just the wing, into the decision.
Volume & sizing chart

| HS1250 | 1250 cm² | Lighter riders | Smaller HS sibling |
| HS1550 V2 | 1550 cm² / 938 mm span | 1125 g | The wing covered here |

How it compares
| Board | Best at | Wave range | Aggregate score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Armstrong HA1225 | High-aspect glide | Prone, downwind, wing | 9.3 |
| Armstrong HA1125 | All-round HA benchmark | Prone to downwind | 9.4 |
| Axis BSC 890 | Surf-focused mid aspect | Prone surf | 9.0 |
Verdict
A big, early-lifting Armstrong front wing refined for better glide and pump. Best suited to SUP foiling, wing foiling and small, weak surf — riders in powerful waves will want a smaller, faster wing.
