About …Lost

…Lost Surfboards was founded by Matt 'Mayhem' Biolos in San Clemente in 1985 and has become the most influential groveler-and-hybrid label of the last two decades. Mayhem's approach is unapologetically everyday-surfer-focused: high-volume templates, wider outlines and clever rockers that let intermediate riders draw pro lines in average waves.

The lineup is anchored by the Puddle Jumper HP (all-round groveler), Driver 3.0 (performance shortboard, Griffin Colapinto's board), Rad Ripper (small-wave grinder) and Rocket Redux (updated Retro Ripper). Between them, these four boards cover 80% of the conditions the average surfer will ever meet.

Lost is manufactured out of the San Clemente factory alongside Mayhem's Mayhem Custom program, with licensed production for stock boards through partners in Southeast Asia and Europe. Stock Losts are widely stocked at Cleanline Surf, Boardcave, Surfride and Real Watersports.

FAQ

Is the …Lost Puddle Jumper HP good for beginners?

The Puddle Jumper HP is one of the most beginner-friendly high-performance shapes on the market — thick, wide and forgiving — but true first-day surfers should still start on a soft-top. Intermediate surfers stepping down from a foamie will find it a very easy transition.

What is the difference between the Driver 3.0 and the Puddle Jumper HP?

The Driver 3.0 is a proper high-performance shortboard with a pulled-in tail and higher rocker — designed for waves with a bit more push. The Puddle Jumper HP is a wider, flatter groveler for weaker, everyday conditions. Most riders own both.

Who shapes for …Lost?

Matt 'Mayhem' Biolos is the founder and lead shaper. All Lost design files originate from him, and Mayhem still shapes customs personally out of the San Clemente factory.

Are Lost surfboards made in the USA?

Mayhem Custom orders and a portion of stock production happen at the San Clemente factory. Higher-volume stock models are also produced under license in Southeast Asia and Europe using Mayhem's design files.

How much do Lost surfboards cost?

New Lost stock boards typically range from $795 to $1,050 in the US. Mayhem Custom orders shaped by Matt Biolos personally add $300–$500 depending on options.
