European-designed windsurf and SUP builder from Munich — home of the Stylemaster surf SUP, the Falcon flatwater race hull and the Ray touring composite that Europe's SUP schools have run for over a decade.

Fanatic was founded in Munich in 1981 as a windsurf shaper and moved into SUP in 2008, quickly becoming the reference European SUP brand alongside Starboard. Every composite Fanatic is shaped in Germany and Austria and built at the same Cobra tier-one factory in Thailand as most premium SUP brands — a combination that consistently wins Fanatic 'best European SUP brand' at the annual Boot Düsseldorf awards.
The three flagship rigid families are the Stylemaster (a performance-shortboard-style surf SUP with a punchy, drivable outline), the Falcon (a narrow flatwater race hull that has won multiple ICF World Championship medals under riders like Bruno Hasulyo) and the Ray (a stable, efficient touring composite that is one of the most-recommended progression SUPs in Europe).
Fanatic's team roster reads like a European who's-who — Bruno Hasulyo, Susak Molinero and Blue Ewer have all raced or surfed Fanatic on the World Tour — and the brand's dealer network is denser in Europe than any other SUP shaper's, which is why Ridestore, SurfShop24, Boards.co.uk and Rutland Watersports all stock the range.
Surfex is an aggregator — we do not test boards ourselves. These are the retailer, editorial and manufacturer pages we cross-check when writing about Fanatic. Numeric aggregate ratings are only shown once we've scraped a real customer-review widget on one of our product review pages.
Yes. Fanatic was founded in Munich, Germany in 1981 and its shape and R&D team is still based in Central Europe. Manufacturing is at Cobra International in Thailand — the same factory used by Starboard, Naish and most premium SUP brands.
The Starboard Pro is narrower, faster on rail, and the reference competition surf SUP. The Fanatic Stylemaster is a touch wider, more forgiving, and easier to ride day-to-day. Most European reviewers prefer the Stylemaster for average conditions; the Pro wins in top-tier waves.
The Ray 12'6" and 11'6" are widely recommended as first composite touring SUPs — stable enough for a first-time adult beginner in flatwater but efficient enough to last as you progress. First-time paddlers on choppy water may still prefer a wider inflatable to start.
Fanatic's official US distributor is Watersports Warehouse; the full range is also available direct from Fanatic.com, which ships to the US.
